Bath & Body Works Body Care Day review
Bath and Body Works launched its first Body Care Day this year on Sunday December 16th, 2019. As expected, it was AMAZING-price wise! My biggest steal was getting the Winter Candy Apple shimmer fizz body lotion. Regularly priced at $16.50, I snagged it at only $4.95!!!! I picked up lots of goodies for Christmas gifts but that was by far the best!
I already had plans that day to make tamales with my dad so I wasn't expecting to spend too much time in the mall. However, Bath and Body Works had a different plan. Although they had just as many registers open as they did on Candle Day, my location was noticeably shorter on staff walking the floor and directing the line. This caused a back up of people getting in line thinking there was a line to get in the store, when really it was to pay. Also, lots of customers were spending much more time in the store looking for products and without the extra help on the floor it, took longer for them to find what they were looking for.
To compare, I got in line on to pay on Candle Day and within just 6 minutes I was walking out the store and to my car. For Body Care Day, I spent a whopping 20 minutes in line waiting to pay and I didn’t even use any coupons! The line on Candle Day was considerably longer and as there was no limit on candles, people had way more product to purchase.
I also wasn’t given any cellophane wrap for the items, which I didn’t notice until I was at my car. There was no way I was going to go back into the mall for it, so I guess I'll have to buy small gift bags.
I'll cut B&BW some slack because this was their first year having this event and of course when something is new, there are always kinks to work out. However, being that they have had many sales and events throughout the years, they should have definitely known better. The line was unorganized, with people cutting into the middle of the line in the store because no one was around to direct them to the back (which was out the door and down the walkway). I wasn't there to argue with anyone and no one cut directly in front of me but I saw it happen twice to a couple people ahead of me.
As far as ease of access, I'd give this event 5/10. This is mostly because the products were out of place, the store was crowded with people searching for what they wanted and with no direction, they were kind of just standing around. They also were running low on shopping baskets, which held up shoppers because honestly who can carry all those body creams?
The price point though was unbeatable! When considering the fact that all body care was included (lotions, body cream, body butter, body wash, aerosol men’s body spray, aromatherapy body care, etc), I think it was completely worth the extra effort. As far as price point, I'd give this event 10/10!
Overall experience in store, I'd rate this event 6/10. The employees were clearly stressed from being understaffed and inundated with questions. They were frustrated and it showed in the way they spoke to customers. The store was messy, broken product spilled and misplaced product was the worst of it but in general the store just seemed unkempt. By the time you got up to the front of the line to pay, it was rushed and we weren't given cellophane wrap which means we now have to do extra work to make these gifts presentable.
I wasn’t completely satisfied with this event but I can't wait to see how they improve next year!
